Theatre Performances

Salesian drama students perform two plays each year and learn about production, acting, and stage design. Plays are then performed in front of a live audience. Learn more about the upcoming performance or see a partial listing of past performances below.

The Twelve Huntsmen

October 26 - 28 - 11, 7 PM | Large Tent in the Salesian College Preparatory Parking Lot | $5 Students, $10 Adults

The Twelve Huntsmen features Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, the two brothers from Germany who popularized folk tales like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel and published Grimm’s Fairy Tales in 1812.

In this comedy, the brothers are searching for folk tales in the woods when they stumble upon and are captured by a group of huntsmen. The huntsmen are women in disguise who tell the Grimms their own fairy tales. Led by Cesario, a princess, the women tell the brothers tales that center around food. The twist for the audience members and the cast is that these tales are never told in the same order, so come watch the play all three nights and never see the same show twice!

These tales are definitely not the Disney version, and some are quite sad and violent; they are true to the Brothers Grimm. There are a lot of swords, magic, a talking lion, and singing, and many of the characters live “happily ever after.”

Matilda, The Musical

Matilda, The Musical, is the story of an extraordinary girl who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey.  Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
