On Wednesday, September 18th, the unveiling of Selway Court was a momentous occasion that brought the Salesian community together to honor the incredible generosity of the Selway family. Bill Selway, a proud member of Salesian High School’s first graduating class in 1964, made history as the first All Student Body president and was a dedicated four-year basketball player.
For years, the Selways have exemplified what it means to give back, with Bill Selway’s legacy of service and support at the core of their philanthropy. As the court was revealed, it stood as more than just a tribute to Bill—it became a testament to the enduring impact of his values on countless students' lives. A small group of family, friends, and community members gathered to celebrate not only the new court but also the deep and lasting bond between the Selways and Salesian.
Philanthropy plays a crucial role in shaping the future of a school like ours, where every gift makes a profound difference in the lives of our students and on campus. Contributions from our community serve as an investment in the future of the students we serve, helping to break down financial barriers and create opportunities for them to thrive. When asked, "What inspires you to give Salesian your time, talent, and treasure?" the response captures the essence of who we are as a school: "It is the atmosphere created by the philosophy of St. John Bosco that prevails at Salesian High School. From the students, teachers, administrators, alumni, and friends, it makes you want to be a part of it. The exuberance, shared ambition, and the potential to do great things together are all part of the 'Salesian Family' atmosphere."
