Dear Salesian College Preparatory Community,

On behalf of the Salesian College Preparatory (SCP) administration and its Board of Directors, we are excited to announce an important addition to our leadership team. SCP Alumnus Kenneth Farr '10 has been named School Principal, effective July 1, 2023.

Mr. Farr's educational leadership background and deep connections to the Richmond and Salesian communities make this appointment truly special. Having grown up in the area and experienced the transformative education offered by SCP during his high school years, he possesses a profound understanding of our commitments to academic excellence and St. John Bosco values.

With a career spanning a decade in teaching and school administration, Mr. Farr has gained invaluable insights and expertise that will be instrumental in leading SCP to new heights. Most recently, as Principal of St. David of Wales Catholic School in Richmond (another Alma Mater of his,) he demonstrated his leadership skills by shepherding the Pre-K - 8 organization through the pandemic, driving student success and enrollment while operating in remote and hybrid learning models. His contributions have helped enhance the school's Catholic Identity, instructional practices, and the family-like culture within the school community. Prior to his principal role, Mr. Farr was an accomplished educator who was recognized as the Teacher of the Week by KRON 4 and highlighted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for his inspiring instructional methods. He has a BA in Liberal Studies from California State University, East Bay and an MA in Teaching from Saint Mary's College of California.

Upon joining SCP, Mr. Farr will report to President Stephen Pezzola and will be supported by an experienced executive team. William (Billy) Heidenfeldt, Ph.D., will continue his exceptional service as Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, and Mariella Nightingale will take on the role of Dean of Students.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Principal Marylou Flannery for her remarkable contributions and unwavering dedication to SCP over the past 30 years. Her legacy will forever remain an integral part of our school's history, and we wish her all the best in her retirement.

We congratulate Mr. Farr and welcome him back to SCP with open arms. Together, with his addition to our leadership team, we are confident in our ability to continue providing an exceptional education that fosters academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community impact.
