During our Easter Break, a group of adventurous Salesian students and faculty embarked on an unforgettable weeklong journey through the heart of Paris. From April 18 through April 25, 2025, they explored the City of Light (La Ville Lumière) through a rich blend of cultural experiences, iconic landmarks, and moments of faith and friendship that made for a truly transformative trip.
After a smooth transatlantic flight, students wasted no time diving into adventures, including a food tour in the Latin Quarter, mural-making projects, and picnics in the lush Jardin du Luxembourg. They explored modern street art in the 13th arrondissement, contributed their own graffiti mural in the 14th arrondissement, and began discovering what it means to engage with a new culture hands-on.
The trip continued with a visit to the magnificent Château de Fontainebleau, followed by a deeply moving experience at the recently reopened Notre Dame Cathedral, where students participated in an ecumenical Easter Mass. That evening, they celebrated the holiday and their French teacher Dr. Raterman's birthday with a traditional French dinner at a historic bouillon.
Throughout the week, students balanced structured outings with moments of personal exploration. They visited the immersive Le Petit Prince exhibit and wandered neighborhoods like Le Marais and Île de la Cité. They experienced Parisian life through food tours, Moroccan tea service, and a baking workshop where they crafted their own baguettes and croissants. Evenings brought awe-inspiring experiences like sunset views from the Eiffel Tower, a river cruise along the Seine, and quiet moments reflecting on the beauty and complexity of French history and culture.
As they return home, they carry with them not just souvenirs, but stories, friendships, and a deeper understanding of the world and their place in it.
