Mamma Mia is a Smash Hit at Salesian!

A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combined to make Mamma Mia! a smash hit musical at Salesian on March 9-11 . ABBA's hits were the inspiration for the hilarious story of a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father, which brings three men from her mother's past back to the Greek island they last visited 20 years ago.

The set designed by our very own Director, Janet O’Hair, with the assistance of Jerri Doss (alumni parent),  and Masquer’s Playhouse,  provided a picturesque and idyllic backdrop reminiscent of the Greek Isles.  The music directed by Cesar Cancino,  and the vocal harmonies coordinated by Ben Stevens were simply lovely.  The angelic voices of Senior Alizia Dela Cruz, and Sophomore Bella Tessendorf carried the entire cast.  The group dance numbers, choreographed by junior Maliha James, were creative, and absolutely amazing!   White platform shoes, with gold, silver, aqua blue or pink lame outfits captured the decade of the glitzy disco era.

The audience laughed, applauded, and thoroughly enjoyed singing  Dancing Queen at the end with the entire cast.  It was a memorable and delightful musical theater production where everyone in attendance left with a smile on their face.
