Embracing the Lenten Season at Salesian
Salesian eNewsletter

The school community officially began the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday Prayer Service. This year’s service was held on Valentine’s Day. Students, faculty, staff, and administration came together to be in God’s loving presence and better understand the sacrifice that Jesus made for each of us. Fr. Joe Nguyen, SDB, explained that celebrating Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday is fitting as we celebrate the love God has for us. He further encouraged us to remember that love is a verb, inspiring us all to ask ourselves, “What are we willing to do for others?”

Throughout the season, our students had the opportunity to visit the Chapel and participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation during their Religious Studies classes. During Holy Week, the faculty, staff, and administrations of Salesian College Preparatory and St. Francis High School of Watsonville will participate in a ‘Salesian Schools Formation Day.’ The day will focus on renewing and strengthening the Salesian Mission, and to reflect and deepen our common vocation as Salesian educators to, with, and for the young.

As we embark on Easter, we hope our school community will take a well-deserved break from work and studies to celebrate the joy of the resurrection and new life of Jesus Christ with their family, friends, and loved ones!
