Art Day, a Resounding Success!
Gabriella Zaragoza

We kicked off this month with the annual Art Day on October 4, organized by our Visual & Performing Arts department chair, Ms. Debra Shushan. During this event, students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of creative and fun activities like receiving a Henna tattoo, tie-dyeing a t-shirt, and were given a one-of-a-kind silkscreen t-shirt, designed by Junior, Kailey Miranda.

In addition, our school community was entertained by our talented band on the Holy Grass. Implemented for the second year was a TASK Party, a concept created by artist Oliver Herring, and through our Art Department’s partnership with Art 21. Students selected a task out of a box and completed it, by using materials provided and most importantly, utilized their creative thinking. The beautiful concept of the Task Party is that all the assignments are interpreted by the students, celebrating imagination and creativity.

One student shared “What I love about Art Day is that all art forms and mediums are celebrated today. I really feel like I get to unleash the inner artist in me!”

Art Day was a masterpiece at Salesian!
