Our Program

Salesian College Preparatory has a well-deserved reputation as the “Home of Champions.” Since 2000, the Salesian Athletic Program has earned 6 California State Titles, 10 NorCal Championships, 35 North Coast Section Team Championships, 7 North Coast Section Individual Championships and over 100 League Championships. The Salesian Pride field 15 teams across 13 sports with 26 competition levels (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman) across 3 seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring).

Nike Elite High School

Salesian College Preparatory has been honored as a Nike Elite program for its boys and girls basketball programs, a unique designation specifically for sponsored high schools. Nationwide, there are over 40,000 basketball programs, but Nike has designated only 200 as elite.

Athletics Update

2022-2023 Athletic Team Stats

The 2022-2023 school year saw many outstanding performances by the various Salesian athletic teams.  In the fall, the school had its inaugural season in varsity girls' golf led by Coach Josephine Orozco.  In cross country, freshman Nestor Alvarado set a school record for his class in the 5k.  In girls' volleyball, the team won its first round NCS contest before falling to the Bay School in the NCS quarter finals.  Girls' tennis had a great season, and the Pride football team upset the number 2 seed Moreau Catholic Mariners at Moreau in the NCS playoffs before losing in the semi-finals to Justin Sienna. 

The winter season saw tremendous success on the basketball court led by the girls' team that won the TCAL Championship and the NCS Open Division Championship before losing the NorCal Open Division Championship to Archbishop Mitty High School. On the boys' side, the team captured the TCAL Championship and lost in the NorCal Division I Championship Game to Granada High School.  On the soccer field, both the girls' and boys' teams played well all season.

In the spring, girls' softball placed second in the league, won their second-round NCS contest against Fort Bragg before losing to Del Norte High School in the semi-finals. In baseball, the team went undefeated in league to capture the TCAL league championship and the team won the league playoffs beating Jesse Bethel High School. Swimming, boys' tennis, and boys' golf all had outstanding individual performances.  Boys' volleyball qualified for the NCS playoffs where they fell to College Prep High School in the first round.  Track and field saw many fine performances led by freshman Nestor Alvarado who ran 4:39.16 in the 1600 to set a new frosh school record.

Girls' Soccer

In girls' soccer action, the team has started the season at 2-3. The team has losses to Moreau Catholic, De Anza, and Berean Christian. The team began the season with an opening win against Waking Waves Academy by the score of 4 - 1. In a home match on December 13th, the team beat the visiting Warriors of John Swett by the score of 5 - 1. The team next plays against the Kennedy High School Eagles at home on Friday, December 16th.

Boys' Basketball

The boys' basketball team has rolled to a 4-1 start having played a very tough early stretch of games after beginning with an easy season opening victory. In that game, the team scored a lopsided win over Mt. Diablo by the score of 89 - 35. The team next played national powerhouse Coronado of Nevada at the Bishop O'Dowd showcase where the team lost on a buzzer beater 55 - 53. The Pride then traveled up to the Gridley Tournament where the team won the championship by beating Oakland Tech 63 - 55 in the first round, then taking down California State power Clovis North by the score of 55 - 53 in the semi-finals, and then beating the Cougars of Campolindo by a score of 68 - 53 in the championship game. The team next travels to San Luis Obispo to play Bullard High School in the Mission Prep Tournament.

Boys' Soccer

The boys' varsity soccer team is off to a fast start this year beginning the season at 6-1-1. The Pride are well balanced in their offensive attack seeing numerous players score goals in the team's six wins. In non-league action, important for North Coast Section playoff implications, the Pride have victories over Moreau Catholic, Leadership of Richmond, and Fremont of Oakland. The team next plays against Hercules High School on Thursday, December 15th.

Girls' Basketball

In early season action, the varsity Salesian girls' basketball team has opened the year at 3-0 playing three tough early season opponents in Oakland Tech, Marin Catholic, and Sacred Heart Cathedral. In the team's first game against Oakland Tech, the defending CIF Division III State Champion, the Pride defeated the Bulldogs by the score of 56 - 48. The girls then hosted the Marin Catholic Wildcats and won by a score of 50 - 42. In action last night against the Irish of Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Pride prevailed by a score of 60 - 55. The team next plays against De Anza High School on Thursday, December 15th.

Salesian Athletics at the Collegiate Level

Known for its outstanding athletics program, Salesian has a dedicated specialist available to assist student-athletes who wish to continue to compete at the collegiate level.  The specialist will be available to assist and guide students and their parents in the college process and filing NCAA paperwork.  Participation in high school athletics may create opportunities at colleges and universities beyond athletic scholarships.
