Backyard Biologist
June 29 - July 1, 9am - 2pm | $100, includes a nature journal 
Led by Science Teacher Dr. Elizabeth Coscia

Middle school participants have a unique opportunity to learn about the wildlife within Salesian’s backyard. Salesian’s secluded 21 acre campus, surrounded by majestic redwoods, Wildcat Creek and colorful gardens, is home to an amazing diversity of plants and animals. This three-day camp will include active exploration, sensory observations, species identification, journaling and collaborating with peers to connect with the natural world.
Needs for each day: Lunch, snack, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, small backback, comfortable layered clothes, sturdy closed-toed shoes. Optional items include binoculars and iPad or Mobile Phone (for using species identification apps).

Basketball Camp
Weeks of June 28, July 12 and July 19, 9am - 3pm | $175
Led by Boys Varsity Coach Bill Mellis

Led by the Red and Black Boys' Basketball Head Coach and former California Coach of the Year, Bill Mellis. This camp will provide outstanding instruction, including individual fundamentals and team play and building confidence through drills and team play for boys and girls. With the Salesian Basketball Camps offensive and defensive drills will be introduced. Free Throw and Hot Shot Competitions will be organized. 5 on 5 Team Competitions will occur, as well as 3 on 3 competitions. Academic and personal goal setting will be discussed and a guest speaker will make a presentation. This camp is designed to make each athlete a better basketball player in a fun environment where participants can make new friends.
Participants should bring a face mask, water bottle, and a bag lunch.


Chess Wizards: Summer Chess Camp | June 21-25 | $175
You'll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like bughouse), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a Chess Wizards T-Shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. Unleash your brain power and spend some of your break time with Chess Wizards!

Co-ed Soccer Camp
June 21-25, 9am - 2pm | $175
Led by Boys Soccer Coach Raul Garcia

Spend a week of your summer receiving valuable soccer training at Salesian College Prep. The focus will be on technical development, improving tactical awareness, and increasing decision-making ability in order to conquer more challenging game situations. Each participant will get to develop new skills, refine techniques, make friends and have a lot of fun!
Participants should bring shin guards, water bottle, and a bag lunch


Creative Writing | July 7, 9am - 12pm | $40
Led by English Department Chair Mrs. Trott

In this one day, three hour, creative writing class, participants will be encouraged to observe the world around them, show their creativity with language and practice new ways of expressing themselves. Participants will write poems and short stories and learn to create a mini zine. Led by Sarah Trott, who teaches English and Creative Writing at Salesian. She also teaches writing classes for teenagers at the Bay Area Writing Project through UC Berkeley.

Mad Science - Secret Agent Camp
June 28 - July 2, 9am - 12pm | $215

The Mad Science Secret Agent Camp is a fun journey into the world of detection, spy science, and forensics. Campers will examine the science behind the spy tools made famous by the world's greatest spies! We will reconstruct activities using scientific methods and use the science of cryptology to send and decode secret messages. Kids will get a chance to see what can't be seen by the naked eye and will follow in Sherlock's steps to learn what tracks can tell us! Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigations to help foil a burglary using state-of the art security techniques!

One Day Basketball Clinic | Saturday, June 5, 2021

Led by Girls Varsity Head Coach Stephen Pezzola

This Basketball Clinic is specifically tailored for the 4th to 8th grade girls interested in improving her fundamental basketball skills. The clinic is led by Salesian College Preparatory Head Coach Steve Pezzola and members of his coaching staff. Coach Pezzola has many years of basketball coaching experience at both the high school and AAU level. The staff is expected to include Bernard Brown, Greg Ginsburg, Alana Horton, Isabell Ampon, Richard Rincon, Cassie Re, Justin Reid, Sam Sims as well as other guest coaches and members of the Pride Varsity Basketball team. Space will likely be limited to 40.

Outdoor Cooking
June 24, 9am - 2pm | $50
Led by Coordinator of Youth Ministry Adrian Fulay

Do you like pizza? Of course you do - everybody loves pizza!! In this one-day, hands on cooking class you will learn how to make two different types of dough and cook several kinds of pizzas. You will learn how to prepare ingredients, how to roll out dough, and bake the pizzas in an outdoor oven and in a regular kitchen oven. Come with your imagination and your appetite!


Salesian volleyball camp

Volleyball Camp | June 21-25, 9am - 2pm | $175
Led by Girls Volleyball Head Coach Jose Vargas

The Red and Black Volleyball Camps will be led by Salesian Girls' Volleyball Head Coach Jose Vargas and will aim to build and strengthen fundamental and intermediate volleyball skills through:

  • Passing, setting, hitting, serving, and blocking drills and games 
  • Serving competitions and hitting practice 
  • 3 v 3 and 6 v 6 competitions throughout the week

The camp is designed to improve foundational volleyball skills and develop each athlete's life-long passion for the sport through fun games, motivating competitions, and an emphasis on team building.  
Participants should bring a bag lunch, refillable water bottle, knee pads, and a mask.
