A special message from our Principal, Marylou Flannery:
December 14, 2019, will go down in the annals of Salesian History as the day when the Pride won their first-ever State Football Championship! It was a long and memorable season, including league and regional playoff games, culminating in a CIF State Championship Trophy. It doesn’t get much better than that.
This special victory was the result of hard work on the part of coaches, student athletes, parents, and the entire school community. Many long practices, drills, and hours of conditioning finally paid off. On Saturday, as we witnessed history being made, countless parent volunteers showed up hours early to work the gate, serve in the Snack Bar, and organize the parking. Other parents and friends of Salesian announced the game, managed the Chain gang, fired up the barbecue and made sure everyone had enough to eat and drink during a spectacular sporting event.
It was gratifying to watch so many students, families, faculty, staff, and alums show up to share in the excitement of the day. It was wonderful to visit with alumni parents, former students, meet their new young families, and reminisce about days gone by. This one single event brought so many members of the Salesian Family together on a beautiful sunny afternoon to celebrate our community. The smiling faces, friendly cheers, and electric atmosphere would have made Don Bosco proud. He endeavored to make every place truly joyful when the young are gathered. That was certainly accomplished on Saturday afternoon at Selway-Martin Field.
Many thanks to all the parents that answered our call for help and volunteered their time and talent last week. We have a supportive school community of caring parents and outstanding students. I was especially proud to be Salesian last Saturday.
Many wishes for a truly blessed Christmas as you all gather with your friends and family to celebrate the birth of our Lord next week. Many blessings for a happy and healthy New Year in 2020.
Continue to spread that family Salesian spirit that we all experienced last Saturday throughout the new year.
