Impact of a Gift

If only All of Us could have...

the PERSERVERANCE of our football team in a championship game,
the EXCITEMENT of Our Parents planning for their son or daughter to go to college,
the PRIDE of A Grandparent witnessing their grandchild become the first in their family to attend college,
or the HOPE that is provided by the nurturing leadership of Salesian Faculty & Staff.

We hope that you feel the perseverance, excitement, pride, and hope that we experience on a daily basis here on campus!

Thank you to all of our supporters who continue to provide the contributions and volunteer time necessary to make these dreams a reality.

SHS Goals & Vision

For several years, the Salesian Family has been blessed by the generosity of our community. More recently, we have faced challenges that are unique to anything we have experienced in our past, but we are confident that “together” we can overcome these challenges and provide Salesian with a stronger foundation and promise of a vital future.

Immediate Goals and Needs

For the 2011-12 Fiscal Year, the SHS Development Team has (2) two primary goals:

1 - Tuition Assistance Funding

The need for tuition assistance has increased substantially for the upcoming school year and support for this program will be critical. For the 2011-12 academic school year, Salesian will distribute $1,430,000 of financial aid to our students. This is an increase of $190,000 from last year.

In order to maintain and grow the educational mission of our school, a mission that is committed to provide all students with an excellent Catholic college preparatory education and experience, I need your support to Salesian High’s Tuition Assistance Program.

Donors can make a request to support tuition assistance by marking their online form if donating online or by writing “Tuition Assistance” in the memo section of your mailed check. Checks can be sent to: Salesian High School Development Office, 2851 Salesian Avenue, Richmond, Ca 94804.

Another opportunity is by participating and providing support to our Annual Alumni Golf Tournament. The net proceeds from this event go directly to the Salesian Tuition Assistance Program.

SHS will also work to establish more sustainable funding sources in order to provide long-term support to our Tuition Assistance Program.

2 - The SHS Annual Appeal

The Annual Campaign provides the funding that “bridges the gap” between the tuition the school charges and the actual cost of the quality education provided. This year that gap is at $918 per student.

Salesian’s Annual Campaign has historically maintained success in meeting goals and providing the much needed funding for every day operating costs. Recently, the performance of the Annual Campaign has fallen and this year we will work hard to re-establish our historical level of giving and participation.

Our goal will be to increase the performance of the Annual Campaign and meet both our funding and participation goals. Learn more about the Annual Campaign, why it is so important for everyone to participate, and view the status of the 2011-12 Annual Campaign Goals.

Ensuring the Vitality of Salesian High

Another challenge we now face as a school community is to continue to move our mission forward. Our vision for SHS is to establish a stable foundation for the future needs of our school community.

Some of these include:

  • Capital Funds: To provide our students with quality academic instruction and challenging programs by providing up-to-date instructional equipment, technology, and facilities.
  • Contingency Funds: To provide a funding source that will ensure fiscal stability, even when there is a substantial decline in funding or unanticipated cost(s).
  • Tuition Assistance Funds: To keep Salesian High accessible to all families by providing an affordable tuition, as well as tuition assistance to those families who demonstrate significant financial need.

Financial support in the form of Legacy Gifts will help to ensure that long-term goals will be met.
