Giving to Salesian

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Thank you for considering a donation to Salesian.

There are a variety of occasions and methods for providing financial support to Salesian High School. A brief description of some of these is shared below. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact Janet Wilks, Director of Development 510-234-4433 ext 1204.

HONORARIUM GIFTS

On special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduation and other accomplishments, Memorial and Honorarium gifts offer an opportunity to pay tribute to a relative, friend, or business associate.

MEMORIAL GIFTS

At the time of death, friends and relatives often look for a way to express sympathy as well as to have a loved one’s memory carried on in a meaningful way. Memorial gifts at Salesian are often designated for Tuition Assistance or for the Salesian Endowment Fund. Tuition assistance allows Salesian to enroll students who might not otherwise be able to attend due to financial hardship. The following message in the obituary of the deceased provides the appropriate information.
Memorial gifts may be made to Salesian High School, Tuition Assistance Fund,
2851 Salesian Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804

  • IRA Distribution * Rare Tax Advantage Opportunity

A rare tax advantage opportunity is about to expire.
This year, participants in an IRA who are age 701/2 or older have a wonderful opportunity to make a charitable gift at very favorable terms. Expiring in 2007 is a provision which enable such a person to make a gift directly from their t4raditional or Roth IRA to a charity, hopefully Salesian High School. The benefit is that the person need not take receipt of the money first as a distribution, so income taxes do not have to be paid on the donation. In addition, the IRA holder’s charitable gift is treated as part of their minimum annual distribution.

There are certain strict rules that apply to qualify, so one should seek guidance from a tax advisor before taking action.

Remember to always check with a professional, qualified tax advisor before making donations.
