VISION STATEMENT

To be a leading college preparatory Catholic school in the Bay Area by providing a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for a diverse student body in the Salesian tradition.

 
MISSION STATEMENT
Salesian High School, a college preparatory Catholic school, which educates young men and women to develop into good citizens for the betterment of society and the glory of God. Salesian combines the experience of church, school, playground and home in a supportive, caring, family environment according to St. John Bosco’s educational philosophy of reason, religion, and kindness.
 
GOAL STATEMENT

Salesian High School intends:

  • To educate students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds;
  • To encourage students to develop their unique gifts and abilities;
  • To value the innate talents and dignity of all students;
  • To develop self-worth within each individual and respect for one another in a Christian community of faith, love and fellowship;
  • To collaborate with all members of the Salesian family-students, parents, administrators, teachers, staff, alumni/ae and benefactors;
  • To celebrate the school's rich diversity of talent, race, ethnicity, religion and socio-economic background.

In embracing St. John Bosco’s vision, A Salesian High School student is expected to develop:

CHURCH

  • A Christian way of life, sustained by reflection, and prayer, that develops good habits of moral living, such as truth, honesty, integrity, and justice.
  • An acceptance for others based on the dignity and value of human life as found in Christian teachings, Catholic traditions and lessons from human history.
  • A commitment to the spirit of forgiveness and thanksgiving as exemplified by the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

SCHOOL

  • An appreciation and understanding of the various ministries (service) and vocations (lifestyles) within the Christian community.
  • An awareness of, an ability to reflect critically upon, and a commitment to act on issues of justice within the school, the family, the community, the nation, and the world.
  • An ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals and groups and to resolve differences and reach consensus.
  • An ability to read, write, speak, listen, calculate, create, and observe.
  • An ability to think logically and creatively, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, problem-solve, reason deductively and inductively and develop decision-making skills.
